After the Charlotte Hornets drafted LaMelo Ball with the third overall pick in the 2020 draft, everyone started thinking about LaVar Ball's Michael Jordan quote from a few years ago.

To recall, LaVar said he could beat Jordan in a one-on-one game.

During his media session with Hornets reporters on Friday, Ball had a hilarious response when he was asked if his dad and Jordan would finally play the game everyone wants to see.

Michael Jordan would destroy LaVar Ball in a one-on-one game. LaMelo Ball knows that, but the new member of the Hornets can't really admit it publicly since LaVar is his dad.

LaMelo played 12 games in the NBL before suffering a foot injury that forced him to end his season early. He averaged 17.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game. The Hornets are very excited to get him in the backcourt next to Devonte' Graham, who put up 18.2 points per game in 2019-20 and shot 37.3 percent from beyond the arc.

In the post-Kemba Walker era, Jordan needed to find an electric Hornets player who would draw eyes towards the team. MJ found that player in LaMelo, who has always put on a show whether it was in high school or overseas.

The Hornets missed the playoffs in 2019-20, which helped them get the third overall pick in the 2020 draft and snag LaMelo. Now, all eyes are going to be on the youngster to see if he can help Jordan build Charlotte into a winner.
