Despite missing a handful of games due to a wrist injury, Charlotte Hornets standout freshman LaMelo Ball was named the 2020-21 NBA Rookie of the Year. Safe to say Lonzo Ball was proud of his little bro after the news broke.

LaMelo, the youngest Ball brother, took to Instagram to post himself flexing his trophy to the world.

His older brother Lonzo Ball, himself a highly-touted prospect upon entering the league, shared a message to the youngest ball brother after it was announced that he had received the ROY plum.

Lonzo Ball posted on his Instagram story, hailing LaMelo for his feat while expressing that this is just the beginning:

“Jus another step along the journey… Keep going lil bro @melo”

The 4-year veteran had just as much hype as his younger brother when he entered the league. Lonzo Ball however had a relatively underwhelming first couple of years in the league. The former Los Angeles Lakers prospect didn't receive a single vote for the ROY award back in 2018, which went to Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Ben Simmons.

LaMelo Ball has gotten off to a better start than his older brother, and just like Lonzo said, it's just one step of many for the Hornets guard.
