The 2020 NBA Draft is set to take place on November 18 and the Charlotte Hornets have their sights set on a particular player at the No. 3 overall pick.

With the draft less than a month away, the Hornets are reportedly eyeing James Wiseman out of Memphis at No. 3, per Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte News Observer.

During the shortened 2019-2020 NBA season, Charlotte finished with a 23-42 record. As a result, they knew they would end up with one of the top draft picks in the offseason. After the lottery took place, the Hornets were rewarded the No. 3 pick, putting them behind the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors.

With multiple needs on the roster, Wiseman would give the Hornets a viable option at the center position. Despite having a ton of hype going into college, Wiseman ended up playing in only three games at Memphis before opting out and shifting his focus on preparing for the NBA Draft.

In his three collegiate games, Wiseman averaged 19.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocks. He also shot 76.9 percent from the field, showing his offensive prowess in the paint.

Seeing that the Timberwolves and the Warriors are open to trading the top two picks, there is uncertainty on what could transpire on the day of the draft. With that said, Charlotte may not have a chance to grab Wiseman before he's off of the board.

Instead of centering their attention on one position, GM Mitch Kupchak made it clear that the Hornets are looking to take the best player available. When the draft rolls around, Wiseman seems to be the best player in the eyes of Charlotte's executives and scouting department.
