It was a magical night for the Italians on Friday in Munich as they knocked out the high-flying Belgians in the quarterfinals of Euro 2020. However, bad news came shortly after their huge victory on left-back Leonardo Spinazzola, who exited the pitch on a stretcher in the second half.

In what looked to be a rather harmless slip, Spinazzola has suffered one of the worst injuries that any player could have. The 28-year-old, who plays his club football for Roma, has been one of the breakout stars at Euro 2020. Leonardo Spinazzola will now be on the road to recovery, which could be well over 12 months considering the severity of an Achilles tear.

Italy meanwhile, absolutely dominated Belgium in a 2-1 victory as they booked their ticket to the semifinals at Wembley against Spain. Inter Milan standout Nicolo Barella fired the Azzurri ahead early in the first half, followed by a beautiful second goal from Lorenzo Insigne.

The Italians definitely look like a favorite to win the tournament given the level they've been playing at, but unfortunately, Robert Mancini's side will have to get it done without their vibrant left-back, Leonardo Spinazzola.

New Roma boss Jose Mourinho will also be upset to see his defender's injury as the Portuguese tactician looks to turn things around at the Stadio Olimpico next term.
