Jose Mourinho is already back in the game.

Not long after getting sacked as the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Mourinho is returning to the pitch as the manager of AS Roma next season. The 58-year-old just signed a three-year deal with the Serie A club.

Jose Mourinho is excited for this new chapter after his last one ended so unceremoniously.

Via ESPN's Tom Hamilton:

“Thank you to the Friedkin family for choosing me to lead this great club and to be part of their vision,” Mourinho said.

“After meetings with the ownership and Tiago Pinto, I immediately understood the full extent of their ambitions for AS Roma. It is the same ambition and drive that has always motivated me and together we want to build a winning project over the upcoming years.

“The incredible passion of the Roma fans convinced me to accept the job and I cannot wait to start next season.

“In the meantime, I wish Paulo Fonseca all the best and I hope the media appreciate that I will only speak further in due course.”

Mourinho has quite the resume as a manager, spending time with football giants such as Chelsea (twice), Real Madrid, Manchester United, Inter Milan and Porto. He was only with Tottenham for two years before getting the boot just a couple of weeks ago.

Jose Mourinho will be replacing Paulo Fonseca as the manager for Roma. The Italian club is seventh in Serie A, well outside of a Champions League qualification position. Roma is currently in a semifinal battle against Man U in the Europa League, but they're trailing 6-2 on aggregate heading into the second leg this week.

Roma was reportedly close to hiring former Chelsea and Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri, only to surprisingly announce the hiring of Mourinho. We'll see how this goes.
