The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a huge blow on Saturday with the season-ending knee injury to wide receiver Marqise Lee. As a result, head coach Doug Marrone has acknowledged the possibility of adding a wide receiver like Dez Bryant.
Bryant's name has been linked to multiple teams throughout free agency. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Marrone did not rule out the possibility of bringing him in:
Doug Marrone asked about adding a WR, Dez Bryant specifically, says the team is “comfortable” with who they have on the roster now but doesn’t slam the door on adding a free agent or waiver pickup.
“If we feel at any position we can get ourselves better, we're always going to look at that,” Marrone said.
Marrone's comments are certainly intriguing given the current state of Jacksonville's receiving corps. The Jaguars parted ways with their former No. 1 wideout in Allen Robinson this offseason. They were confident in the depth they had behind him which was headed by Lee. They will now have to reach even deeper with him out for the 2018 NFL season.
Jacksonville must now find a new safety net for quarterback Blake Bortles if they are going to solidify any sort of passing attack. That said, Bryant makes for an interesting option. He was seemingly on the verge of reaching a deal with the Cleveland Browns last week. However, reports suggest that the veteran could be looking to play for a serious contender. The Jaguars certainly fit the bill going into the regular season.
