Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone is not ready to name his team's starting quarterback just yet, with a Week 10 bye further delaying the looming decision between Nick Foles and Gardner Minshew.

Per Jaguars.com writer John Oehser on Twitter, Marrone, in his third year coaching the Jaguars, will “step away” and make the decision around next Sunday.

Jacksonville has veteran signal-caller Nick Foles returning from his broken clavicle suffered minutes into Week 1's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Jaguars handed the Super Bowl-winning quarterback a massive four-year, $88 million contract in the offseason, which included $50 million in guarantees, signaling Foles as the starter in the short term.

Then Foles' replacement, rookie Gardner Minshew, burst into the scene. A product of Washington State, Minshew was selected in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft last April and no one expected to see him on the gridiron for the Jags this early due to the Foles signing.

Minshew led the Jaguars to a 2-2 record after a rocky start before the first-year gunslinger began to show growing pains. After another pair of losses and wins, Minshew threw for 309 yards and two interceptions in the team's London, England, matchup with the Houston Texans. Jacksonville loss on Sunday morning (for the stateside audience), only scoring three points in the blowout defeat to the AFC South division rival.

Now Marrone gets to decide between the healthy Foles returning from injury or the fan-favorite rookie, who has struggled in recent weeks.

Depending on how Jacksonville views itself—as a contender in the AFC Wild Card or possibly a tanker—it could give more reps for Gardner instead of focusing on the experienced Foles.
