Around the NFL, the third phase of the team offseason workouts has opened up with voluntary OTAs with several notable players for many organization not being on the field.

This is the case for the Jacksonville Jaguars with their Pro Bowl cornerback duo of Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye both being notably absent from the workouts so far this week. According to Phillip Heilman of the Florida Times-Union, head coach Doug Marrone voiced that he has been in communication with both players and did not want to pinpoint reasons why both are not present with the team at this moment.

“One of the things that I’m big on is not to create messages through the media, me as a head coach doing that,” Marrone said. “I have been communicating with them, and I’m sure when the time is right they will explain their reasons. I don’t think it is for me to sit up here and explain their reasons.”

It is quite an intriguing situation surrounding their absence given that it doesn't appear to be a contract-related reasoning. Bouye is heading into the second year of his five-year, $67.5 million deal that he inked with the team last season. Meanwhile, Ramsey is still a season away from being eligible for a new deal as he's set to play in the third year of his four-year, $23.3 million rookie deal.

This seems like a situation that could be dealing with something entirely different than reworking contracts as neither looks to be in the position to do just that. What should be noted is that they have both been in communication with the organization that should be seen as an encouraging sign.

Until the Jaguars voice any level of concern about their respective situations, the expectations should be that each will be back at some point in the near future.
