The Jacksonville Jaguars decided to fire head football coach Urban Meyer late Wednesday night amid controversy. The move did not come as a surprise to many, as one off-the-field issue after another mounted against Meyer. According to Mark Long of the Associated Press, Meyer left his entire coaching staff in the dark.
Darrell Bevell confirms that Urban Meyer left the Jaguars facility after practice yesterday and never returned, leaving staff to prep without him.
Heard they were in the dark as to where he was and what was happening.

In place of the fired Jaguars head coach, Darrell Bevell is filling in as interim head coach. Bevell confirmed that Urban Meyer left the practice facility Wednesday after practice and did not return or communicate with any of his staff.
Meyer reportedly left the facility abruptly. The assistant coaches were then preparing for this upcoming weekend's game against the Houston Texans without their head coach. They were clearly in the dark as to what was going on.
Urban Meyer has been mired in a season full of controversy. It was previously reported that Meyer had called out his assistant coaches and questioned their qualifications, despite the fact that he had a hand in their hiring. Upon news that some information had been leaked to the press, Meyer, while speaking to the media, went on a rant where he essentially threatened the jobs of anyone who was leaking information.
On Wednesday, news broke on another incident. The Jaguars head coach had apparently kicked his kicker prior to a preseason game back in August.

Once this story broke, it caught on like wild fire across the sports world. Jaguars team owner Shad Khan was left with no choice but to fire the embattled head coach.
