The Jacksonville Jaguars were without their two starting cornerbacks on the first day of their organized team activites.

Per Herbie Teope of NFL.com, Jags head coach Doug Marrone said both Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye were not present on Tuesday.

Marrone did not specify the reason for the two cornerbacks’ absence. Although, Teope adds that per a source, Bouye is set to report later in the week.

It’s unlikely that either player wasn’t present due to a contract issue, which is usually the reason for a player's absence in the voluntary portion of the offseason program. Bouye is just one year into a five-year deal he signed last offseason. Meanwhile, Ramsey still has a couple years left on his rookie deal.

Whatever their reasons for not attending, it shouldn’t be too big a concern. OTAs are still voluntary after all, with the only mandatory part of the offseason program being the three-day minicamp on June 12-14.

Ramsey, 23, has emerged as the shutdown corner the Jaguars hoped he’d be when they took him at No. 5 in the 2016 draft. He’s coming off a terrific season in 2017 as he had four interceptions, 17 passes defended, and 63 total tackles to earn First-Team All-Pro honors.

Meanwhile, Bouye was also impressive in his debut season in Jacksonville. He racked up a career-high six interceptions, which are as many as his total through his first four years in the league, 18 passes defended, and 56 total tackles.

The two were significant factors in the Jaguars having the best pass defense in the entire league last year and will be crucial in their success this season.
