Through his first two seasons in the league, Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey has established himself as one of the premier players at his position. He had taken that the next step this past season that saw him earn his first Pro Bowl selection and First-Team All-Pro nod.
He has being able to stay healthy this time around in comparison to last year where he suffered an abdominal injury in offseason workouts that required surgery that he believes prevented him from getting his legs under him for the first few weeks of the season. A full bill of health this summer has allowed Ramsey to declare that his best football could be ahead of him during the 2018 campaign (h/t Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk).
“This year I’m trying to avoid that, so far I’ve been able to avoid that, so if y’all thought I was good in the past two years, then stay tuned,” Ramsey said.
If Ramsey is able to stay the course with his health, it should allow him to keep his focus on working on perfecting his craft on the field to become a more effective all-around talent in the secondary. He has already shown that he has the ability to excel against various types of receivers due to the physical nature of his play.
The 23-year-old has become one of the staples of the Jaguars that has seen him and A.J. Bouye become arguably the best cornerback duo in the league. If he's able to take the next step in his development, it will add to his already promising trajectory that would add more individual accolades with another Pro Bowl selection and First-Team All-Pro nod.
Ramsey clearly doesn't lack the confidence in his play on the field, he will have the chance to back up his strong stance concerning his play on the field this upcoming season.
