The Jacksonville Jaguars have been a somewhat active team in free agency thus far and their most notable signing was Joe Schobert. After signing with his new team, Schobert spoke about what he'll bring to Jacksonville:
“I’ll come in calm, and do my job,” he said via the team's official site. “I’ll be accountable. You can always count on me to do my job and make the plays that are there to be made and get everybody on defense on the same page to the best of my ability and make sure we’re all working together in one unit.
Prior to joining the Jaguars, Schobert spent his first four seasons with the Cleveland Browns. While in Cleveland, Schobert was a linebacker that allowed his play on the field to do the talking for him.
Schobert said that he will continue playing with that same mindset with the Jaguars:
“That’s just kind of how I play the game. I don’t get too hyped up. I don’t get too low. I just try to be a calm, steady force out there and make sure people are doing the right thing so they can be held accountable – and make all the plays that come my way.”
In just his past three seasons alone, Schobert has accumulated 380 tackles, eight sacks, seven forced fumbles, and six interceptions. The former fourth-round pick out of Wisconsin will join a linebacker corps that features Myles Jack.
Due to playing in Cleveland, Schobert hasn't gotten much recognition from the everyday fans. Regardless of whether or not that changes, Schobert hopes to continue his style of play with the Jaguars.
