In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette is doing his best to help those in need.

According to the Jaguars, Fournette will be donating 7,000 meals per week to his home city of New Orleans for the next eight weeks.

Fournette is just one of many athletes who have stepped up in the wake of the current situation.

The 25-year-old is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he played 15 games and racked up 1,152 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 4.3 yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 76 receptions for 522 yards.

Fournette, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by Jacksonville with the fourth overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 13 contests during his rookie year and was impressive, finishing with 1,040 yards and nine scores while logging 3.9 yards per attempt. He also caught 36 passes for 302 yards and a touchdown, playing a pivotal role in helping the Jaguars win the AFC South division title and make it all the way to the AFC Championship game.

After his strong rookie season, expectations were high for Fournette entering 2018, but the halfback had a very disappointing year, participating in just eight games due to injuries and suspensions and totaling 439 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged a meager 3.3 yards per tote while recording just 22 catches for 185 yards and a score.

There was even some chatter that the Jaguars could potentially part ways with Fournette after his miserable sophomore campaign, but they decided to give him another chance this past year. Good thing they did, because he showed significant potential much like he did during his rookie season.
