The Jacksonville Jaguars made waves in the 2021 NFL Draft when they not only drafted Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence at No. 1 overall but, also took his running back partner with the Tigers in Travis Etienne.
Etienne was expected to split-time with James Robinson at running back this year for the Jaguars but that was put to the side after a tear in his foot ended his season before it even began.
The dynamic rookie put out a message after his season-ending surgery.
Surgery went great, thanks to everyone for all the love & support!
Road to Recovery starts now! #BlessedAndGrateful— Travis Etienne Jr⁶𓅓 (@swaggy_t1) September 2, 2021
Jacksonville has a fun roster this year as they enter the Urban Meyer – Trevor Lawrence era. While it's unrealistic to expect the Jaguars to compete for an AFC South crown right from the jump, the goal is to eventually get to that mountain top as Lawrence develops and gets his feet beneath him.
Etienne was going to be a big piece of that puzzle offensively this year but now the Jaguars will rely on Robinson and Carlos Hyde to carry the load in the running attack. It appeared as though Jacksonville had some interesting plans to deploy Etienne as a running back / wide receiver sort of hybrid option but that will now be on the back burner until the 2022 season.
Here's to a quick and healthy recovery for the former Clemson star and to seeing him ball out next year for the Jaguars.
