The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have dropped to a 2-3 record after suffering consecutive defeats to the New England Patriots and the Arizona Cardinals in the pasts two weeks. Just to add to head coach’s Dirk Koetter’s headaches, Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston remains questionable to play in Sunday’s tilt against the Buffalo Bills.

According to the NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano, Winston gave the impression that he’s ready to play in the Bills game, but also sounded like the Bucs will have to wait until Sunday to know for sure whether to give the former Florida State Seminole the green light or not.

Winston failed to finish Week 6’s encounter with the Arizona Cardinals due to a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder and was then promptly replaced by backup Ryan Fitzpatrick in the second quarter. Before leaving the game for good, the Buccaneers gunslinger completed just five of 10 passes for 61 yards.

In a report by Greg Auman of TampaBay.com, Koetter said that Jameis Winston will not be risking any “further damage” on his shoulder if they let the quarterback play the Bills. In turn, now the bigger question is whether Winston could tolerate the pain enough for him to be effective under center.

Although he passed for two interceptions against the Cardinals, Fitzpatrick made a good account of himself in a surprise appearance, as he racked up 290 yards and three touchdowns on 22-of-32 completions. He’ll get his first start of the season if Winston is ultimately sidelined by the Bucs.

For those somehow unaware, Ryan Fitzpatrick played his college football at Harvard.
