Boston Celtics shooting guard James Young has made the 15-man roster, two days prior to their season-opener against the Brooklyn Nets, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.
Young, originally a 17th overall pick of the Celtics in 2014, has struggled to find playing time in head coach Brad Stevens‘ roster – one that boasts plenty of youth and is actively competitive for floor time.
The 6-foot-6, 215-pound player is the prototypical shooting guard, but could move into the small forward position if there's a need.
The Celtics boast a lot of depth, so it's unlikely Young will see much playing time with the likes of Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder getting the bulk of minutes at the two and three spots. Offseason signing Gerald Green and rookie Jaylen Brown should see consistent time off the bench.
