The Utah Jazz‘s biggest task this offseason will be re-signing All-Star forward Gordon Hayward, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this evening.

There is a growing sense that Hayward is heavily considering moving on from Utah, with both the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics serving as major threats to acquire him.

According to the Associated Press, the Jazz have a plan in place in order to help convince 27-year-old to stay:

The Jazz would prefer [George] Hill to be the point guard of the present and future, but other teams will make a push for his services. This is likely the last major payday for the 31-year-old.

Hill has called Hayward his little brother and said his decision will have an influence. The opposite is likely also true, and the pair had planned to stay in contact at the end of the season.

Like Hayward, Hill is also set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. In his one season in Utah, he helped further progress the franchise into becoming a 50-win team that reached the second round of the playoffs for the first time since the 2009-10 season.

Hill was highly productive, averaging a career-high 16.2 points with 4.2 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game. He proved to be the team's first reliable point guard since the days of Deron Williams, and he was also a major factor on the defensive end of the floor.

The manner that the Jazz handle Hill's situation could be indicative of what the team will try to do with Hayward. Ultimately, if they believe there is a realistic chance of keeping the face of the franchise, a major push will be made in order to keep the veteran point guard on board as well.
