Utah Jazz point guard Dante Exum has been officially tagged as probable for Friday's contest against the Memphis Grizzlies. He is set to make his season debut as he makes his way back from a partially torn patellar tendon in his right knee.

Exum, whose NBA career has been sidetracked by myriad injuries since he was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, hasn't participated in game action since March 14. His 2018-19 year was slowed by both ankle and knee injuries, which caused a two-month absence before he returned for a brief three-game stint in March. He started just one of the 42 games that he appeared in last season, averaging just 15.8 minutes per contest while compiling 6.9 points and 2.6 assists on a nightly basis.

Where Exum will fit into the team's rotation remains to be seen, as Emmanuel Mudiay has proven himself a capable backup for veteran point guard Mike Conley in the early portion of the 2019-20 year. At the off-guard spot, Donovan Mitchell has blossomed into a star, while head coach Quin Snyder has utilized veteran Joe Ingles as an additional guard to accrue him more minutes.

Still only 24 years old, Utah appears content with waiting until Exum can reach full health before deploying him for a large workload. There have been glimpses of solid play over his previous five years with the organization, although how much longer his leash will extend remains to be seen. For all of the injuries that have set him back over the years, Exum can now move forward with hopes of becoming a consistent rotation piece in Utah.
