Derrick Favors could become a free agent this summer. But if he will have it his way, the veteran power forward wants to remain with the Utah Jazz for good.

Favors has a non-guaranteed $16 million contract for the 2019-2020 season. The Jazz will not have to pay him that amount if they decide to waive him before July 5. While his fate is still hanging in the balance, the 27-year-old made it known that he does not want to go elsewhere.

If the Jazz decides to waive him, Favors will not have a shortage of suitors. However, he insisted that he wants to stay in Utah despite the possibility of getting bigger offers from other teams.

“I would prefer to come back here,” Favors said via Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune. “The grass is not always greener on the other side. I'm happy in the situation that I'm in, in the position that I'm in. I think it's good for me and the organization.”

Favors started his career with the New Jersey Nets before he was shipped to the Jazz as part of the deal involving former Utah superstar Deron Williams. The former Georgia Tech standout has been with the Jazz since then, and he would like to get the rare opportunity to spend more than eight years with a single franchise.

In 76 games for the Jazz this season, Favors saw his minutes drop to 23.2 per game. However, he still managed to contribute decently with 11.8 points on top of 7.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. In his nine years in the league, he has posted averages of 11.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
