Retired NBA player-turned-analyst Kendrick Perkins usually takes flak for his unpopular opinions on air. But his latest assessment of the similarities between Utah Jazz superstar Donovan Mitchell and first-ballot Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade's game couldn't be any more spot on.

Speaking to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Heavy.com on Monday, Perk made valid points why Spida is indeed the modern-day version of The Flash.

“The way he moves through the lane, how crafty he is even with the walk with the shoulders and all. It’s something about his whole swag it’s D-Wade-ish. When you look at D-Wade when he first came in, he was dunking everything, he was super athletic. That’s who Donovan Mitchell is. Chase down blocks & all that? Yeah. He IS the modern day D-Wade,” Kendrick Perkins explained.

Mitchell actually flew under the radar in the 2017 Draft where he slid all the way to pick no.13 for the Jazz. He surprised a lot of pundits that year with his NBA-ready game, similar to what Dwyane Wade did in his rookie year in 2003-04. Like Mitchell, Wade was also overshadowed by some of the bigger names from his class but eventually proved to be one of the best from the crop.

While they came from different generations, the two combo guards still got a chance to play against one another in the tail-end of Wade's illustrious career. Still, it's quite evident that Mitchell's game has shades of the three-time NBA champion. While considered undersized at their position, both Wade and Mitchell boast top-notch athleticism and wow fans with their above-the-rim prowess.

Mitchell, for his part, enjoyed a coming-out party last season, particularly with his phenomenal showing inside the bubble. The Jazz repaid his hard work with a supermax extension worth $195 million. But as phenomenal as Mitchell has been so far in his young career, he still has a lot of catching up to do to reach Wade's long list of accomplishments.
