Rudy Gobert was the subject of some snide remarks after the Utah Jazz's win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night. Donovan Mitchell clearly wasn't in agreement.

First it was Patrick Beverley, who called him out for not choosing to defend Karl-Anthony Towns himself and anchoring the paint instead.

“… If I’m the Defensive Player of the Year, I’m always guarding their best player no matter what… You got Rudy Gobert out there guarding [Jarred] Vanderbilt and talking about he’s the Defensive Player of the Year. Whatever.”

Then Anthony Edwards followed up by claiming he's just not intimidated by the Jazz center's at-the-rim defense.

“Anytime I go against [Kristaps] Porzingis, I don’t get no layups. I don’t get why we couldn’t finish on Rudy Gobert. He don’t put no fear in my heart. I don’t know why.”

Interestingly enough, the Jazz won their matchup by 32 points. Gobert followed that up with a huge 17-point, 21-rebound double-double against the Philadelphia 76ers the very next evening. He also held Joel Embiid to a relatively tame 19 points.

“He went out there and showed it himself,” said the Jazz guard after their win over the Sixers.. “He's a guy that doesn't really talk. He kinda goes out there and shows it and tonight he did it against one of the best in the league in Joel. He's our defensive anchor for a reason. He's won the award three times for a reason.”

Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell and the Jazz have won six games in a row. The outside noise probably doesn't matter to them at all as long as they get the Ws.
