Retired NBA superstar Dwyane Wade was an extremely charitable guy throughout his illustrious career. He recently applauded today's generation of NBA players for continuing to share their blessings to those in need. The three-time champion was extremely pleased with Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell after he and his family shelled out a $12 million donation to his high school, the Greenwich Country Day School in Connecticut.

Wade took to Instagram to give a shoutout to Mitchell's generosity.

Mitchell's pledge is indeed a life-changing amount of money, especially for a small-time institution keen on developing today's youth. The generous sum will be used for scholarships and the construction of a brand new gym.

The gym will reportedly be named D.O.N.!, which stands for The Determination Over Negativity Mitchell Family Athletic Center. The state of the art facility will have an NCAA-regulation court and stands on each side.

Mitchell attended Greenwich Country Day from third to ninth grade before transferring to the more advanced Brewster Academy.

The 24-year-old hotshot certainly did not forget his roots and gave back to the institution that first prepared him for life in the NBA. Money is certainly not an issue in the Mitchell household these days after the Jazz gave their franchise star a $196 million extension last month. Mitchell raised his stock as one of the brightest youngsters in the league today after averaging 36.3 points on 52.9 percent shooting from the field in the 2020 NBA Playoffs.

Mitchell's game has long been compared to Wade's and it's nice to see him live up to The Flash's philanthropic ways as well.
