Utah Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey says the franchise wanted to put as much shooting around center Rudy Gobert and shooting guard Donovan Mitchell “as humanly possible.”

The Jazz traded for point guard Mike Conley and signed small forward Bojan Bogdanovic in free agency. Both Conley and Bogdanovic shoot the 3-ball very well.

On paper, the Jazz appear to have one of the best starting lineups in the game. A starting five of Mike Conley, Donovan Mitchell, Joe Ingles, Bojan Bogdanovic and Rudy Gobert is pretty lethal.

Ricky Rubio was a solid point guard for the Jazz, but he's not a dynamic scorer like Conley. Teams won't be able to load up on Mitchell now since Conley can shoot from the perimeter, get to the rim and finish in heavy traffic. This past season with the Memphis Grizzlies, Conley averaged 21.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists while shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and 84.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Bogdanovic does most of his damage from his deep, but the swingman can put the ball on the floor and create his own shot off the dribble. The 30-year-old put up 18.0 points with the Indiana Pacers in 2018-19 and shot 49.7 percent from the field and 42.5 percent from the 3-point line.

The Jazz have to be considered title contenders after adding Conley and Bogdanovic to the roster.
