Utah Jazz point guard Mike Conley was thrilled to see the Toronto Raptors win the championship last season because his good pal Marc Gasol captured his first title.

Conley and Gasol were teammates on the Memphis Grizzlies for so many years and developed a relationship which can't be broken. It's why Conley was jumping for joy when the Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 Finals in six games.

“Man, I watched every game and was rooting and hoping and praying,” Conley said, via Eric Koreen of The Athletic. “Then they brought it home, so it was pretty cool. First (thought after the call) was pure happiness, and then I was thinking in my head like, ‘Wow, he’s got champagne all in his beard and I’m sitting at home.’ You know, I started feeling sorry for myself for a second, but, no man, it was all happiness directly towards him because I know how special it was for him.

“We were talking about that thing all our career, having an experience like that for himself is, just happy for him.”

Gasol was one of the highlights of the Raptors’ championship parade. Toronto fans were clamoring for Gasol to chug a whole bottle of wine. The big man didn’t shy away from the challenge and had the time of his life.

Conley, should the Jazz win the championship in 2019-20, vows to have a good time just like his pal Gasol.
