Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert is now in a good position to get a big paycheck after having another strong season.

Rudy Gobert was named into the 2018-19 All-NBA Third Team this season after a strong year for the Jazz. As a result, the 26-year-old is now eligible for a supermax contract extension next summer, joining Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, and Kemba Walker.

The French superstar was also named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year last season, which made him eligible for the supermax deal. This season, Rudy Gobert took his game into another level; he averaged career-highs of 15.9 points on 66.9 percent shooting and 12.9 rebounds per game.

The seventh-year veteran helped the Jazz finished fifth in the Western Conference in the regular season. However, they ran into a brick wall, losing to the powerhouse Houston Rockets in the first round. Despite the setback, Rudy Gobert is optimistic that the Jazz are ready to take a big step next season. Gobert knows he has to develop at the offensive end of the floor, and that his team needs the extra degrees of cohesion and seamlessness on the court that are typically part of a team which advances in the NBA Playoffs:

“I think we are close, but it's time for us to take that next step,” Gobert said via NBA.com. “We don't want to be the team that's close every year. We all have to be on the same page and have the same goal in our minds.”
