Team USA head coach Gregg Popovich is a big fan of Utah Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell's game.

Popovich, one of the brightest basketball minds on the planet, spoke highly of Mitchell after Team USA completed its first day of training camp on Monday in Las Vegas.

“We know what he’s capable of doing,” Popovich said, via Tony Jones of The Athletic. “He’s one of those guys who is capable of playing a couple of different positions and that’s important. For Donovan, it’s all about continued confidence and understanding of the game. We want him to affect the game for everyone else. We want him to continue to work on his skills. He’s a heck of a competitor, and that’s a great place to start.

“He has a lot of offensive abilities that we like. He can drive it, he can shoot it from 3 or he can go to the hole. So we want to just refine the things that he does well as the week goes on.”

All signs point toward Donovan Mitchell making the 12-man roster which will compete at the World Cup in China. The Jazz are excited for Mitchell and believe this opportunity will make the guard a more polished player.

Mitchell averaged 23.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season for the Jazz. He's one of the best young scorers in the NBA and is only going to get better after working with Gregg Popovich.
