With the Dallas Cowboys flourishing at 4-1 to start the season, many on-lookers are speculating about the quarterback position.

Tony Romo has been out while recovering from a broken bone in his back, but the offense hasn't missed a beat with rookie Dak Prescott under center. The Mississippi State product especially shined on Sunday, finishing with a 117.9 QB rating and a 75 percent completion percentage.

He's also yet to throw an interception.

So, the question beckons across Dallas: when Romo returns, who starts at quarterback?

Despite Prescott's success, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not ready to give him the reins over Romo. From David Helman of DallasCowboys.com:

Jerry Jones says Tony Romo is scheduled for an MRI to check on his progress tomorrow. He adds that Romo is the Cowboys' QB1, just FYI.

Romo is expected to return between Week 8 and Week 9, right around the Cowboys' bye. As Jones noted to Helman, the keys to the car still lie in Romo's hands.

When healthy, Romo has proven to be an above-average quarterback in the NFL. That first part is the problem; he just can't seem to stay on the field for extended periods of time. But, at least Dallas feels comfortable with their second option in Prescott, which was not a luxury in the past.

Regardless of who starts at QB between these two, the Cowboys appear to be headed to the playoffs once again, barring major injuries.

If Romo struggles when he comes back, Dallas won't hesitate to throw Prescott back out there.
