Aaron Rodgers is still hopeful to return to the field this season.

After devastatingly tearing his achilles in Week 1, Rodgers was thought to be out for the season. However, the Jets quarterback has taken a unique approach to surgery and recovery that he believes gives him a good shot at coming back from his injury this season. His methods showed initial promise when Rodgers was seen throwing on the field before the Jets game versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Listen, I’d love to come back this season,” Rodgers said on ESPN's ManningCast. “I think for me you always have to set a goal, otherwise you go kind of crazy. And so the goal is to definitely come back. But there’s a lot of factors that go into that. But I’ve got to get to the point where I can protect myself and do what I do,” via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

If Aaron Rodgers does come back at the end of the regular season or for the playoffs, it will be one of the most remarkable injury recoveries in NFL history.

In the meantime, Zach Wilson is improving while filling in for Rodgers. The third-year pro has led the Jets to two straight wins  over the Denver Broncos and Eagles and a 3-3 record before New York went on their bye in Week 7. He has avoided making many of the costly mistakes he previously made in losses, and has only thrown one interception in the last four games.

The Jets can stay in the playoff race if Wilson continues to play cleanly, which would ideally allow enough time for Rodgers' improbable return.
