Dalvin Cook used an NSFW phrase to describe his New York Jets teammate Aaron Rodgers on Thursday. But there’s no question, the comment was made in an endearing way.

“He’s as cool as s**t,” Cook told reporters, wearing a big smile. “He’s just one of those guys that you could probably go talk to him about anything … just a regular conversation, just talk to him about life. He’s going to be an open ear for you…And to be in Year 19 and still have that Year 5 mindset, it’s fun to be around that, and just to soak up that good energy.”

Cook and Rodgers were each acquired this offseason to help improve the Jets offense, which ranked 25th in the NFL last season. Rodgers, the 39-year-old quarterback, is a four-time League MVP. Cook, the 28-year-old running back, rushed for at least 1,100 yards each of the past four seasons.

They will make their Jets debuts together on Monday when the Jets host the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.

“We’ve got 8 as our quarterback, so I’m looking to have some fun,” Cook said. “We’ve got a great bunch of guys in this locker room and I’m just looking to go out there and turn it loose.”

Brothers Dalvin, James Cook will play against each other when the Jets host the Bills in Week 1

Cook will see a very familiar face on the other side of the field Monday. His younger brother, James Cook, is a running back, who averaged 5.7 yards per carry as a rookie in 2022 with the Bills.

The brothers played against each other once in the NFL, a 33-30 OT win for Dalvin and the Minnesota Vikings last Nov. 13. Dalvin rushed for 19 yards on 14 carries and one touchdown in the win.

“When it comes down to the moment, we both want to win, to have those (bragging) rights” Cook explained. “But It’s fun just to share the field with him for the second time and have this experience for my family. It’s going to be something we remember.”

The Bills have finished first in the AFC East the past three seasons and the Jets are trying to dethrone them in 2023. New York is also looking to end a 12-year playoff drought.
