Former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan believes that New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is better than Sam Darnold. Even though Jones and Darnold weren't in the same draft class, they will always be compared. Not only do they play in the same city, but the Giants had a chance to draft Darnold, but instead decided to go with Saquon Barkley.

During a recent segment on ESPN's Get UP, Ryan was asked which player was better, and Ryan didn't hesitate with his answer.

“He is better. Daniel Jones is better,” Ryan said. “I think (Darnold) is a heck of a player, he’s got to get better. And Daniel Jones, the same way.”

This answer comes only a couple of weeks after he thought Jones had more upside because he is more fundamentally sound than Darnold.

“The reason I’m saying it is because his fundamentals are much better,” Ryan said, via SNY. “I love Sam Darnold, don’t get me wrong. I still think he’s going to be a tremendous player. But I think this guy right here, this guy’s got competitive greatness in him and I think he’s going to be a superstar.”

During his rookie season, Jones has shown some flashes of being an effective quarterback, and other times he looks like a rookie. The hope for both of these teams is Darnold and Jones can be elite quarterbacks and football that the Jets and Giants can bring good football back to New York for the foreseeable future.
