Most defensive backs are working to improve their coverage, tackling and interceptions. However, New York Jets safety Jamal Adams is focusing on something else entirely.

The former sixth overall pick of the 2017 Draft has a lofty goal in mind for the upcoming season, and he let everybody know on Twitter what he's trying to achieve with the Jets for the year.

Adams revealed on his social media account that he aims to break the sacks record made by a safety for the season.

The current record for most quarterback sacks made by a safety was set by former Arizona Cardinal Adrian Wilson with eight, a feat that was accomplished in 2005.

Adams came up about one and a half sacks shy of tying the record in 2019, and one could argue that he may have had a shot in overtaking Wilson for the record if he didn't miss game time. Adams was sidelined in Week 14 and 15 after suffering an ankle injury in the Jets' loss against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13.

For Adams to achieve the goal he set though, the Jets will have to let him blitz the quarterback heavily. With a heavily improved secondary, the team is capable of finding ways to give Adams a number of opportunities to bring the opposing quarterback down.

The 24-year-old had a spectacular 2019 campaign, totaling 75 tackles and 10 tackles for loss, as well as one interception and the aforementioned 6.5 sacks. Jamal Adams earned a Pro-Bowl selection for the year and was named as first-team All-Pro.
