Since being taken third overall by the New York Jets in this year's draft, rookie quarterback Sam Darnold has quickly franchise enamored the franchise by what he has shown on the practice field.

This has also drawn the praise from Washington Redskins former Pro Bowl cornerback Josh Norman, who has been quite impressed by the level of accuracy and poise in the pocket, according to Matt Stypulkoski of NJ.com.

“You know, you get rookies in here and you try to mess with them and bait them a little bit and thinking he's going to throw a route that you know you can make a play on and he's not having it,” Norman said. “It's so crazy to see at an early age. Dak (Prescott) had that, Carson (Wentz) has that, so it's like, man, they must come in here and not want to screw it up. He's so far, he's impressed me and I didn't want him to. That's the main thing.”

Darnold has shown that he may not be a typical rookie quarterback with his confidence and play on the field that has become noticeable on the practice field. He is a unique talent that has a strong accurate arm that allows for him to make all the necessary throws that will be required at the next level.

Along with that, it doesn't appear that the big moments or situation phase him as he has performed efficiently under pressure. This is a personal quality that has continued to translate as he transitions to the NFL. Darnold looks to have the attention to detail along with the ability that should aid him in finding success with the Jets as their starting quarterback of the future.

At this point, he is in the midst of a wide-open competition for the starting job. If he is able to tack on another strong outing in the preseason it could help him make a stronger case to be named the starter for Week 1 of the regular season.
