Well, it's official. Le'Veon Bell is no longer part of the New York Jets after the lowly AFC East franchise formally announced that the team has agreed to release the veteran rusher.
With Bell being released by the Jets after only a season-and-a-half, the former Pittsburgh Steelers standout immediately took to Twitter to express his feelings about New York's decision.
It is pretty clear that Bell had no desire to remain with the Jets after he and head coach Adam Gase continually butted heads during their time together with “Gang Green.”
“After having conversations with Le’Veon and his agent and exploring potential trade options over the past couple of days, we have made the decision to release Le’Veon,” the Jets said in their statement regarding the now infamous roster move. “The Jets organization appreciates Le’Veon’s efforts during his time here and we know he worked hard to make significant contributions to this team. We believe this decision is in the best interests of both parties and wish him future success.”
Le'Veon Bell would go on to last just 17 total games as a member of the Jets after encountering some injury trouble earlier this season. During his brief stint with the team, Bell notably scored just four total touchdowns. However, he still raked in a whopping $28 million from the Jets over the course of the last two seasons.
The Jets have yet to win a single game this season after coming up short against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5.
