The New York Jets are 1-7 this season. Their most recent loss came in Week 9, against the Miami Dolphins. More specifically, against a Miami team that had yet to win a game all year.

Due to this, you would not be surprised if head coach Adam Gase was under fire. In fact, a very heavy majority of the fan base and the media seem to want the coach fired. However, that doesn't appear to be happening any time soon.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, New York owner Christopher Johnson says the team is going to be ‘patient' with Gase.

It's very easy to get impatient in the NFL. Just a few games can seem like an eternity. With that in mind, it is understandable that a lot of people want Gase gone. And honestly, people have been fired to better records than that.

There is some sense behind being patient, no matter how much some might not want to hear it.

Gase and general manager Joe Douglas are both in their first years with the team. So there are bound to be some issues along the way.

It's also important to note that we have no idea what being “patient” is for Johnson in this situation. Maybe he's giving Gase until the end of the season to figure it out. Or maybe the clock is ticking even faster than that.

Perhaps he is treating year one as a test and no matter the situation Gase will find himself the head coach to start the 2020 season as well.

Whatever the plan is, we don't really know the extent of Johnson's patience. All we know is, for now, Gase is still the head coach of the Jets.
