The New York Jets made a head-coaching change this offseason, firing Todd Bowles and replacing him with former Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase.

Count Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson among those who is prepared to succeed in Gase's offense.

“Now I have a coach that’s going to utilize me as a player and not just make me run straight down the field,” Anderson said, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN NFL Nation. “I was kind of put in a box. I know this year it’s going to be lights out.”

That is obviously a shot at New York's former coaching staff, with Anderson seeming to direct his ire at previous offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates.

Anderson added that his “eyes are on the prize more than ever” and that there is “no negativity” surrounding him.

The 25-year-old is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he hauled in 50 receptions for 752 yards and six touchdowns.

Anderson, who played his collegiate football at Temple University, went undrafted but eventually landed with the Jets in 2016. That season, he went on to catch 42 passes for 587 yards and a couple of scores.

Then, the following year, Anderson broke out, snaring 63 balls for 941 yards while reaching the end zone seven times.

With the Jets adding Jamison Crowder to a receiving corps that already included Anderson and Quincy Enunwa and with Gase now at the helm, New York's aerial attack should be considerably stronger in Sam Darnold's second year under center.

The Jets won just four games in 2018 and have not made the playoffs since the 2010-11 campaign.
