Zach Wilson is all alone on the island right now. The No. 2 overall pick by the New York Jets in the 2021 NFL Draft remains the only unsigned first-round pick. With no contract locked in yet for the BYU product and training camp underway, the Jets have started to work out some veteran quarterbacks.

Neither of these names will excite Jets fans and they aren't really supposed to. Without Wilson being at camp New York quite literally just needs arms that can throw the football, thus the reason for reaching out to Josh Johnson and Sean Mannion.

It's super unlikely that the standoff between Wilson and the Jets would carry out for even more weeks but it is odd that the two can't seem to agree on terms yet. Wilson is set to be the future franchise quarterback in New York and yet, they can't even agree on the first deal.

Jets fans have had a field day with the news, urging the two sides to figure it out (the nice way of wording it).

What's even more interesting about this situation is the depth behind Wilson on the Jets. Normally a team will have a veteran sitting behind the rookie to help him along the way early on. The Jets have James Morgan and Mike White as the other two quarterbacks on the roster. Not only are both young as well, neither have taken a snap in the NFL. So it's a Jets quarterback room full of inexperience. Hopefully for their own sake, they figure things out with Wilson soon enough.
