While the spotlight of “Thursday Night Football” shines on the Baltimore Ravens and their record-breaking quarterback Lamar Jackson, a fellow second-year quarterback is impressing. On his third offensive drive of the night, Sam Darnold led an eight-play 63-yard drive resulting in a New York Jets touchdown.

The touchdown itself warrants a bit of the praise Jackson is receiving. Darnold — who was selected before the MVP candidate — drilled a four-yard toss to Jamison Crowder in the corner of the end zone. Watch below, as Darnold makes the deadly accurate toss.

That toss shows why the Jets took Darnold at No. 3 overall in 2018. He can hit those passes that so few quarterbacks can. Even better: he's an athlete, meaning, like the touchdown above, he can evade pressure and throw on the run.

“Thursday Night Football” could be a preview of two young quarterbacks that will dominate the AFC for years to come.
