Despite a recent report stated that Carmelo Anthony isn't on USA Basketball's radar for the upcoming FIBA World Cup, Kendrick Perkins believes the multiple-time NBA All-Star deserves a consideration.

Since we’re on the subject, there’s report going around that there wasn’t interest in adding Melo to team USA. Not sure if it’s true but USA basketball should be welcoming him with open arms.

He could use the platform more than anyone and it’s a “brotherhood” right?

Over the past few weeks, Team USA has seen it's once-stacked list lose luster as NBA stars such as Kevin Love, Bradley Beal, Anthony Davis, James Harden, and Damian Lillard, among others, withdrew their names from the selection pool.

Anthony has been away from competitive action for quite a while and his playing future remains unclear. But as the names drop one by one, the idea of Anthony making a Team USA return picked up steam around NBA talk circles.

It's a crime to look past Anthony's contributions to USA Basketball. Even with the best of them, the forward proved to be an offensive machine that's tailor-made for the international game. Anthony is a proud owner of three Olympic gold medals. He's also the all-time leader in games played, points, and rebounds in Olympic basketball for the United States.

However, Father Time has dealt a massive blow to the level of Anthony's play. While his summer videos provide everyone a glance of the player that he once was, it's difficult to bet on him these days.
