Kevin Durant isn't taking Spain lightly because he's seen this kind of team before.

Not only when taking on the Spanish in the 2012 Olympic gold medal game, but during his NBA career KD says he's familiar with the type of team the United States will see today in the semifinals.

Said Team USA star Kevin Durant of the Spaniards: “Just like the Spurs, you can count 'em out as much as you want, but they're always gonna be there.”

“When have they not been?” Team USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski added. “They show up and show up big time. They have their key players from '08 and '12. Beating them would be a huge accomplishment for us.”

That's high praise from KD. And spot on.

The Spurs have always been compared to an international team of sorts. They've always consisted of flavor from other countries with guys like Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker and their style of play resembles what's seen in Europe as well when you consider the kind of ball movement, spacing and outside shooting they demonstrate.

The good news for Team USA is Durant has usually played well against the Spurs. Most recently, he helped lead the Thunder past the Spurs in the Western Conference Semifinals in the playoffs last year.

KD is coming off his most dominant game of the Olympics, scoring 27 points with seven three-pointers in the win over Argentina in the quarterfinals. Durant is now actually shooting 66.7 percent from the three-point line in Rio. If he keeps that up, no team in the world has a chance of upsetting Team USA.
