Sacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox says eating “literally feels like a job to me” since he burns calories so quickly.

Fox is arguably the fastest player in the NBA. Because he's running up and down the court so much, the Kings' floor general has to eat a lot to keep his weight up.

“I try to get 4,000-5,000 calories because I burn through it so fast,” Fox said, via Jason Jones of The Athletic. “It’s hard man, it’s hard. For me, eating is like a job. It literally feels like a job to me. That’s definitely the hard part for me. It’s not the workouts or the weight room, it’s trying to eat as much as I can because I know I burn through so much.

“For me, the goal for me this year is to play at 180, and continue to grow, continue to grow, continue to grow. You don’t want to come in at 195, so for us it’s just a process because I don’t want to put on so much weight that I take away my athleticism and my speed.”

Before he joined Team USA for training camp in Los Angeles, De’Aaron Fox said he weighed 183 pounds. The Kings star withdrew from Team USA to focus on the upcoming season.

Last year for the Kings, Fox averaged 17.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists in 2018-19. The lefty shot 45.8 percent from the field, 37.1 percent from beyond the arc and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line.
