The Sacramento Kings' acquisition of Domatas Sabonis came at a steep price. They had to surrender Tyrese Haliburton, who became a budding star for the Kings immediately, in order to pry Sabonis from the Indiana Pacers. Although Haliburton could blossom onto a bonafide star soon, Sabonis could have a big impact in Sacramento.

In his first game with Sacramento, Sabonis scored 22 points on 10-19 shooting to go along with 14 rebounds and five assists, helping the Kings beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 132-119. De'Aaron Fox, who scored 27 points and collected eight rebounds in the win, said that his new teammate was a “monster” and Sabonis backed up the compliment.

Sabonis told the NBC Sports California broadcast crew that he loved playing for the Kings fans and that the team had great chemistry in just the first game with the new additions.

Sabonis and fellow trade acquisitions Jeremy Lamb stepped up to help lead the Kings to the win but there is still lots of work to do. They are still just 21-36, which has them a few games out of the play-in tournament picture in the Western Conference. With hours still left in the trade deadline, the Kings may look to shuffle their roster even more.

Even if they can't find any more trades to make, Sacramento has signaled that they are done having their 15-year playoff drought hang over their heads. Sabonis, Fox and company will have a long climb up the standings if they want to secure a playoff spot. A play-in tournament berth is the team's true ceiling, but if Sabonis and Fox mesh even more, they could find themselves in the postseason.
