Selected with the 13th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, the Kings won the rights to Georgios Papagiannis, the 7-foot-1 Greek center. At the time, the pick was sharply criticized, mainly because DeMarcus Cousins was still on the roster, and the Kings selected Willie Cauley-Stein the year before.

In any case, the Kings have a well-documented history for being a poorly-run and toxic organization. To begin, the Kings fired all of their head coaches from 2010-2016 in just one season. Last season, they traded DeMarcus Cousins totally without his knowledge for a limited return. Lastly, there is a strong belief that the front office is just clueless on how to run the team.

In the next saga of the Kings' dysfunction, the Kings waived Papagiannis on Thursday, which was another questionable move. However, according to Aris Barkas of Euro Hoops, Papagiannis' agent had some strong parting words for the Kings.

“He never got a chance by the Kings. . .He is a free agent. We have options and we are good with that. He is 20 years old and he already has a great resume. I don’t know if the Kings are also good with that. Unfortunately, in the draft, you can’t pick a team. You are picked. Giorgos ended up in a very disorganized franchise and I think that everyone in the NBA is shocked by the decision made by the Kings. It’s one more proof that something is wrong with the Kings”.

Papagiannis averaged 2.1 points and 2.2 rebounds, while playing seven minutes per game. It isn't clear where Papagiannis will head to next, but this is once again a blow for a team that has failed to ditch their horrendous reputation.
