Sacramento Kings forward Marvin Bagley III has played in just 13 games this year due to an assortment of injuries. His sophomore season is turning rather nightmarish.

Bagley will miss at least another three weeks due to his foot sprain, and has no official timetable for return, per James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area:

Bagley has had it tough this year. He suffered a broken thumb in the very first game of the year, missing the next 22 games as a result. He returned to play limited minutes in his next eight games, but he then suffered the foot sprain.

After an eight-game absence, the Kings inserted Bagley into the starting lineup following a minutes restriction in his first game. But he aggravated the foot sprain on Jan. 20 against the Miami Heat, and has not played since.

Kings general manager Vlade Divac stated he did not want to shut Bagley down for the remainder of the season, though a return seems rather fruitless if Sacramento cannot climb back into playoff contention.

Aside from the injuries he has suffered in the past two years, Bagley also has the distinction of being the guy drafted ahead of Luka Doncic. While Doncic was named an All-Star starter in his second season, Bagley has only ever shown brief glimpses of his star potential.

Yet, Divac doubled down on the decision to draft Bagley. He asserted Bagley was the better fit–which might indeed be true–but also said Bagley was the “better player.”

Perhaps Bagley will eventually have the chance to prove he is an All-Star talent. For now, however, his career is one already hampered by injuries.
