A Sacramento Kings fan watching the team's NBA In-Season Tournament Quarterfinals against the New Orleans Pelicans in Golden 1 Center tragically passed away mid-game.

While the victim has not been named, the team confirmed the heartbreaking tragedy in a statement, explaining that the incident occurred during the first quarter of Monday's contest. The Kings noted that there was a medical emergency and EMS quickly responded and gave the fan a CPR. Unfortunately, the efforts to save the victim were not successful.

In the same statement, the Kings expressed their sympathies and condolences to the family of the victim, via Marc J. Spears of Undefeated.

“During the first quarter of the Kings vs. Pelicans game, a guest had a medical emergency. EMS immediately responded and administered CPR. Tragically, these efforts were unsuccessful and the guest passed away. The organization offers its deepest condolences to the guest's family and loved ones,” the Kings' statement on the incident reads.

It's truly a heartbreaking turn in what should have been a day filled with anticipation and excitement as the Kings attempt to win a silverware in the NBA In-Season Tournament.

Sacramento, led by the MVP-caliber play of De'Aaron Fox, has been one of the best teams in the league this 2023-24 season, and sure enough, fans have been clamoring to see more big performances from the team this campaign.
