The Sacramento Kings will not be playing Harry Giles for the rest of the season, according to an official announcement by the Kings.

Giles has a history of tearing his ACL in both knees, but the Kings have studied his knee issues and have been convinced that they would have still drafted him 20th overall in last year's NBA Draft.

The team has since put Giles on a rehabilitation program.

“Sacramento Kings rookie forward Harry Giles has made significant progress in the four months since beginning a measured and sustained plan designed to improve physical strength in his knees. Recent evaluation reveals Giles is entirely healthy, having experienced no setbacks during a focused regimen that has included participation in team practices, skill and strength training.”

The Kings are being very methodical with Giles' treatment. After all, ACL injuries are a serious matter. In the worst cases, Giles may not be able to contribute much to the team. So, the team is also being cautious by putting him on the roster prematurely.

“Given the wealth of scientific research supporting a methodical approach to ACL prevention and rehabilitation, he [Giles] will not be introduced to NBA gameplay during the 2017-18 season but focus on more vigorous practice activity and individual workouts tailored to continue developing overall strength and aid ACL injury prevention.”

There is no rush for the Kings. After all, they are 13-31 in the season — the 15th seed in the West. They can sacrifice more of the present just to ensure a better future with a promising player like Giles.
