The NBA and Nike's City Edition jersey series has been a huge success through its first two seasons, and the Sacramento Kings released their design on Wednesday while simultaneously announcing their November 19 debut date.

This design is strikingly similar to the City Edition jerseys for Sacramento last season, but the team embraced the Sactown moniker this time, as evidenced by the prominent display on the front of the jersey. This jersey appears to be a slight improvement over last season's that featured a lion as the primary design.

Sacramento's new uniform probably isn't going to garner as much attention as other City Edition jerseys on the list. It's not a terrible jersey in itself, but it's nothing too special and it doesn't have much significance behind the design.

Brooklyn used Coogi-style trim to pay homage to Biggie Smalls, Miami's Vice jersey design was inspired by 1980s Miami while Denver paid tribute to their original “rainbow skyline” jerseys. The lack of a compelling design is compounded by the lackluster backstory behind the Kings' jersey.

Fortunately for Kings fans, the team is giving the fanbase a reason to go out and buy some Kings apparel. Sacramento is off to a 6-4 start and they are the biggest surprise so far in the Western Conference. It's unlikely that they keep up this pace, but they are giving their fans some hope for the future, at the very least. Perhaps, that alone will convince a few diehards to pick up a Kings City Edition jersey.
