Carmichael Dave of KHTK Sports reports that the Sacramento Kings and free agent center Dewayne Dedmon have mutual interest, though nothing has been set yet between both parties.

The Kings have been on the search for a veteran big man. Dedmon, of the Atlanta Hawks, is reportedly one of their top targets along with Al Horford, Nikola Vucevic, and Brook Lopez.

Perhaps Dedmon makes the most sense among the field. Apart from being the cheapest option, he won't get in the way of the development of their promising big men, Marvin Bagley III and Harry Giles.

Adding All-Star-level or starter-caliber big men such as Horford, Vucevic, or Lopez could put their development on hold. Dedmon, on the other hand, may have no problem taking a back seat and serving as a steady backup for the young big man tandem.

Likewise, they may part with Willie Cauley-Stein. Sacramento still extended the qualifying offer to the 25-year old center despite requesting that it let him become a unrestricted free agent.

Dedmon averaged a career-high 10.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks for the Atlanta Hawks last season after averaging 10.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.4 block the year before. He, however, had two injury riddled campaigns, including one that was cut short last season after he suffered a season-ending left ankle injury.

With Sacramento's center wish-list, it's clear the Kings are looking for a big man who can defend the interior particularly well and space the floor for them.

The 29-year old Dedmon offers them both at a relatively cheaper cost. He improved vastly as a 3-point shooter in his stint with the Hawks; he shot 37.2 percent from deep in that two-year run.
