Rumor has it – one of the Sacramento Kings' top scorers from last season might be on his way out this summer and no it's not Buddy Hield. It's not De'Aron Fox either. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the main piece that may be on the trading block this offseason is none other than former NBA champion Harrison Barnes.

“There's a lot of interest in Harrison Barnes,” Woj said (via Woj & Lowe). “This is a player who's played really well for them and he's on a significant contract, I would be surprised if Barnes left but I think [if] you look at Buddy Hield, you look at Marvin Bagley and maybe [there are] some deals around that ninth pick,”

As the analyst mentioned, the Kings are picking ninth in the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft. Though the simple route may just be snagging a young talent in this loaded rookie class, the NBA world is far from being simple and the Kings may go the more complex path of leveraging this spot, alongside possibly trading Barnes, to pick up a superstar that would help them win games right away.

Aside from Hield and Bagley, the Kings also have a ton of young stars like De'Aron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, and even Richaun Holmes. A veteran like Barnes, in a vacuum, could've been the perfect piece to help develop the Kings' young core but things haven't gone their way over these past few seasons as Sacramento continues to ride a 15-year playoff drought.

If there's a trade on the table come draft day, don't be surprised if the Kings blow it up and send the former NBA champion elsewhere.
