It's no secret that Marvin Bagley and the Sacramento Kings are not in a very good place right now. However, it still comes as a complete shock that the Kings have effectively ended all hope of a reconciliation between both parties just one day before the team kicks off the 2021-22 campaign.

According to Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports, Sacramento has advised Bagley that he has lost his place in the team's rotation for the upcoming season:

To be clear, however, this quote comes from Bagley's own sports agent. We have yet to hear the Kings' side of the story here. Nevertheless, with how things have developed between both parties over the past few months, it actually isn't completely surprising that Sacramento has made such a drastic move here.

Bagley is clearly unhappy with his current situation with the Kings and the fact that he wants out has been a poorly kept secret. Bagley has not resorted to Ben Simmons-level tactics just yet, but with this recent development, the former second overall pick might just have to ask some pointers from the Sixers want-away star.

Based on Schwartz's statement above, the Kings have been trying to move Bagley. However, it looks like they haven't found the right buyer yet, and have decided to just keep him in Sacramento instead of lowering their asking price.

This is definitely a situation worth monitoring with Bagley in danger of being held hostage against his will throughout the season.
