San Antonio Spurs shooting guard Jonathon Simmons turned a lot of heads last season.

The 27-year-old made quite a splash off the Spurs bench, scoring an average of 15.8 points on 45.7 percent field goal shooting in 28.4 minutes of action. In comparison: San Antonio's actual starting point guard, Danny Green, averaged just 7.8 points per game and 27.2 minutes of playing time.

Simmons, who had a few stints in the ABL and D-League before joining the Spurs, is deservedly a hot commodity this free-agency period. Apart from the Los Angeles Clippers, who are looking to meet with Simmons already, Ian Begley of ESPN reports that the New York Knicks are now also showing signs of interest in the Houston native.

The Knicks and Clippers will have to pry Simmons off the Spurs' hands the best they can, as San Antonio claims that it has $9 million in reserve ready to match any offers for their prized restricted free agent.
